Started with raw Poplar lumber that was cut with a jointer-planer.
Glued together Poplar slabs into blocks to be turned on a lathe.
Turning the piece on the lathe to create the buck mold.
Vacuum formed Styrene sheets.
Bonding the two vacuum formed shells with solvent, sanding flush, then applying Bondo body filler 3 times, sanding between each application.
Scratch filler primer application. (6 coats, 5 sanding passes.)
5th paint coat. Sanded up to 1000 grit. 7 total paint coats. Was painted in 85% humid air so special care was taken to avoid major problems, however orange peel was still prevalent.
First pass waxing the surface 10 times after 8 coats of clear coat.
Continued buffing of model.
Final cleaned surface.
